My Favourite Gingham Print Pieces

Firstly, I apologise for my lack of posts this week.  I am currently loving the gingham trend that is causing a storm within the fashion industry. Below, are my favourite Gingham pieces.

1.
2.

 3.                                                                                                   4.

         1. Topshop Gingham Jeans £38 - Found here
2. Topshop Gingham Scuba Tee £28.00 - Found here
3. New Look Gingham Check Tube Skirt £9.99 - Found here
4. Daisy Street Theoni Drop Waist Gingham Dress £14.99 - Found here

Aren't these Gingham pieces just amazing? I currently own the two Topshop pieces and I love them! Joni Jeans from Topshop are the comfiest jeans ever as they are quite stretchy. The Gingham Tee from Topshop is quite a flattering fit I find. It is a little cropped than I had hoped for but it looks great as a matching set with the Gingham Joni jeans. Previously, I wanted to purchase the Gingham matching set from Topshop but it was quite pricey and the top was a vest top and I'm not overly keen on exposing the tops of my arms. But here is the link for it here. I also want a Gingham skirt. I am in two minds whether I want the skirt to be a skater style or a more fitted style. I am unsure whether to purchase the skirt above as I am yet to make a decision but I do like this skirt. It is a fitted, pencil skirt style and is a great price at only £9.99. What a bargain!. My next favourite piece is the drop waist Gingham dress from Daisy Street. I absolutely adore Daisy Street. They are always on point with the current trends and their prices are extremely reasonable. I have had my eye on this dress for quite a while now. It's different from any other Gingham dresses I have seen. I particularly like the drop waist and I like the turned up sleeves as I have noticed many of other Gingham dresses I have seen have had cap sleeves which show off the tops of the arms and as I said previously, I'm not keen on that. And this dress is only £19.99, bargain again!.
I hope you are loving the Gingham trend too! :)

Until next time,

It's All About The Velvet

Velvet Burgundy Wine Oversized Shirt purchased from Wanderland £18 - website found here
Urban Outfitters BDG Velvet Leggings in Paisley - sold out but found here
Dr Martens Chelsea Boots £65 - found here
One of my weakness trends of the year is velvet. I call it my weakness trend because I overbuy on the stuff. I just love the texture and feel of velvet - it just screams the 90's!
I am wearing an oversized burgundy wine coloured velvet shirt. I bought this shirt a a year and a half ago from Wanderland who have a boutique shop on ASOS Marketplace. This is the type of clothing I like to wear when I just want to throw an outfit on and feel comfortable yet stylish. If you love the 90's trend, you should definitely check out Wanderland on ASOS Marketplace as they have so many bargains and gorgeous pieces. The link for Wanderland on ASOS Marketplace is listed above.
I purchased the BDG Paisley Velvet Leggings in September 2013. I have received so many compliments on these leggings. The print is gorgeous and really distinctive. They are great quality and the velvet material still remains after many washes. Unfortunately, these leggings have now sold out online, however, you may be able to find similar pairs on E - bay or at other retail stores.
I have paired this outfit with my Dr Martens Chelsea Boots. I adore these shoes. These are my most comfortable shoes that I own. I purchased these via E - bay as they are quite pricey from the Dr Martens store; there are always a pair listed when I check on E - bay, so if you want a pair, it may be best to check on E - bay if you don't fancy paying Dr Martens prices.
Thanks for reading. On Monday I will be posting my Gingham wishlist.

Until then,

My favourite outfits from The Brits 2014

As stated in The BAFTA's post, this week is a hectic time for London and Awards Evenings.
On Wednesday night, The Brits were held at The O2 Arena in London. It's one of the biggest nights in the music calender but eyes were more on what the celebrities were wearing rather then what they were winning.
There were plenty of amazing outfits, yet there were some pretty bad ones. But, this post is about the outfits that I personally liked. I would just like to state that I own none of these photographs. I will source where I got them from.

Firstly, is the forever stylish Fearne Cotton. Fearne hardly ever puts a foot wrong when it comes to fashion. Prada was the outfit choice for Fearne at this years Brits. The dress resembled a metallic look. Metallic clothing is going to be a huge trend this year and Fearne carried this trend off superbly. Fearnes' outfit was simple yet stylish with her silver bag and matching heels. If only this dress was from Fearnes' "Very"collection, then we could afford it :(

The next outfit I really liked was by Peaches Geldof. The outfit that Peaches wore was extremely simple but she pulled it off well. Even though Peaches is a mum of two, she rocked a gorgeous toned stomach (which I'm very jealous of!) in a black crop top and black leather skirt. And what's more?! Peaches proudly supported a high street retailer as this outfit was from none other than River Island!! (Yes, us mere mortals can actually afford this :) ) The clothes from River Island listed below are not exactly the same as what Peaches wore but are similar pieces.

River Island Black Cami Crop Top £6 - Found here

Pharrell Williams is my next choice. The musician traded his trusted Vivienne Westwood hat for a classy Lanvin suit. The tuxedo was a sliver glittery colour. The trousers were tapered at the hem which I thought, suited Pharrells' frame and look. Pharrell finished off this outfit by donning black patent brogues. This is a very classy look, which I feel is a great trend for men. However, I spoke to soon about the hat. Pharrell performed his signature song, "Get Lucky" with Nile Rodgers, where Pharrell saw it to be a great opportunity to bring out the headpiece. All I'm going to say is, 'What a hat.'

My next two choices are going to be written together as I think they are wearing similar outfits. (Well, kinda). Beyonce and Lily Allen both wore sparkly, glittery numbers. Let me focus first on Beyonce. This may get me into trouble (I apologise) but I'm not going to hold back on my opinions as this is partly what my blog is for. I feel Beyonce is somewhat overrated (I'm sorry!). Beyonce is a great singer but I feel people treat her like a Queen. Saying that, Beyonce and Jay - Z are one of my favourite Celebrity couples. Beyonce, as always, looked gorgeous in a glamorous outfit with a reported 400,000 Swarovski crystals. The star wore a sparkling floor - length green dress which was by Vrettos Vrettakos. The dress was long sleeved and suited Beyonce perfectly. As I'm sure the majority of us can't afford the price tag, I have found a similar dress at Motel Rocks. It is the Gabby Sequin Plunge Back Dress which is £58 and very sparkly indeed. Lily Allen also wore a long sleeved sparkley dress. Again, this dress suited Lilys' figure and had a vintage vibe to it with its' turtleneck style and long length. The dress was a black number by Norrell; it was simple yet elegant.

Lastly, my choice is Ellie Goulding. There have been articles floating around that Ellie Goulding and Kylie Minogue were the worst dressed at The Brits, however, I disagree about Ellie but DEFINITELY agree with Kylie. Ellie Goulding dazzled fans by arriving at the Ceremony in a dress fit for a Princess (quite literally). Elie Gouldings' dress was by Vivenne Westwood. The gown had a sculpted pink bodice with frothing white layers of netting from the waist down. This dress really complimented Ellies' figure and I felt the colour suited her.

These were just a few of my favourite outfits from The Brits. I just wish I could afford them!

Tomorrow I will be doing a post on how I style my velvet pieces together.

Until then,

Florals and Lace

ASOS Skater Skirt In Vintage Sunflower Print £18 - Found here
Cream Lace Shirt - Vintage
ASOS Petite Exclusive Blazer with Metallic Shine £23 - Found here
Topshop Milla Silver Lace Up Shoes £7 - Found here

Today, I thought I would continue with slowly bringing the Spring colours and prints out of the wardrobe. I have decided to mix florals and lace together as they make a good combination.
I adore the sunflower print skirt. It was only £18 from ASOS which I think is a great price. It is good quality. I think they are selling fast so if you want to purchase the skirt, I advise you get it NOW. :)
I think it is definitely going to be my main staple for my Spring wardrobe as it goes with any outfit. For some reason, the print reminds me of the sunflower collection that American Apparel had out last year. I think sunflower prints are going to be huge this SS14.
I paired the skirt today with a lace shirt. I have had this shirt for two years and I still love it. I purchased it from a vintage store but lace is going to be big for SS14 and many stores are starting to sell lace garments. I love the pointed collar on this shirt as I can style it in many ways. It looks very cute underneath a jumper.
The blazer is again from ASOS at £23, however, it is sold out on the website as I purchased this in January 2013. This blazer is part of a matching set which I'll feature in my "Matching Set" post. I like this blazer because it is very versatile, yet unique. It can be worn with anything from skirts to jeans. I like the metallic shine and I really like the fit. It is from the Petite range therefore it is quite fitted and I feel it fits my frame well.
As for my shoes, I am wearing the Topshop Milla hologram shoes. These were in the sale for £7 (bargain, right?!) but unfortunately, have sold out. I have noticed some pairs for sale on E - bay so get hunting!. I'm going to do a separate post for these shoes but all I will say is that if you want to stand out from the crowd and shine (literally) these are the shoes for you!

Hope you liked my post on more SS14 outfits. Tomorrow I will be doing a blog on outfits I liked from The Brits.

Until then,

How I style Boohoo Pastels

Boohoo Lola Cable Knit Jumper £15 - Found here
Boohoo Katie Baby Blush Boyfriend Jeans £25 - Found here
New Look Burgundy Short Sleeve Heart Print Shirt £14.99 - Found here
Bass Weejuns Loafers $98.00 - Found here
Skull Ring £2.99 - Found here
Skull Wearing A Hat Ring 0.99p - Found here

I am absolutely adoring the pastel trend this season. Like with every trend, I have gone overboard. I literally now own every item of clothing in some sort of pastel shade - all I need now is a pair of pastel brogues, ha!
This post is focusing on how I would style a pastel outfit. I am a huge fan of Boohoo and they have definitely succeeded with the pastel trend. I personally felt Boohoo were ahead of the game with this trend as they were bringing out pastel pieces very early on.
Firstly is the Lola Cable Knit Jumper. I must admit that I was a little skeptical when purchasing jumpers from Boohoo as I have always found them to come up much smaller on me, however, I was proved that I no longer have to be skeptical after purchasing this beauty. The colour is a gorgeous mint green and it also comes in three other colours; apricot, pink and stone. I really wanted the pink jumper but I had purchased the pink jeans first so I wanted a different colour and now, I wouldn't change my decision at all. This is honestly the most comfortable jumper I have ever owned. It is good quality, true to the pictures, true to size yet enough room to be comfortable, great price, warm and has a lovely pattern. This jumper goes with literally anything. I like to wear it with circle skirts, which I'm sure I'll do a post on in the future.
Secondly, is the Katie Baby Blush Boyfriend Jeans. Again, I love these jeans. I was a little worried that they would be TOO pink but when they arrived, I had nothing to worry about. They are more of a pinky-peachy colour which I adore. They are feminine but not too much as they have the MOM fit to them which is great as they are very comfortable. The one thing I would say is to get a size smaller as I have found these are just a tiny bit too big for me as I like MOM jeans to be a loose but still a little bit fitted - or maybe I'm just too fussy. They are going to be perfect for the Spring/Summer time and they go with anything. I also think the turned up hems are cute. :)
I thought I would add a buttoned shirt underneath the jumper which gives this outfit more of a "preppy" feel. I killed two birds with one stone really as both monochrome and heart patterned blouses are both on trend this season. This blouse is from New Look and has a boxy shape and short, turned up sleeves which you obviously can't see but I will probably wear it in another blog post. I am a sucker for collars poking out from underneath jumpers. Unfortunately, the blouse I am wearing must be sold out as it is no longer featured on the website, however, this is a very similar shirt but in burgundy.
On my feet, I am wearing Bass Weejuns Loafers. I bought these on E - bay from an American business shop and I paid about £45 for them. They are usually between £60 - £90 brand new (roughly!). They are so worth the money. They are comfortable and easy to walk in. I had been looking for a "proper" leather pair of loafers for a while around September last year and I came across these in the same month and couldn't resist. They literally go with anything, and being the colour black too. They look great with rolled up trousers and ankle grazers. I think they add a nice preppy, sophisticated touch to the outfit above. Again, unfortunately I couldn't find the exact same pair of Bass Weejuns, however, these are a similar pair. If you don't feel like breaking the bank, New Look have a great range of shoes with these loafers at the price of £34.99 and REAL LEATHER.
On my fingers, I am wearing skull rings. The amount of compliments I have received from friends, family and customers at work is unbelievable. I have never received as many compliments on anything like I have on these rings. These rings are very unusual and definitely make a statement. One is quite big and one is very sparkly so it catches the light. The big skull can be found here and the sparkly ring found here. That reminds me, I really need to purchase these two rings again for the other hand haha :).
Lastly, is my gorgeous dark purple coat from ASOS. I bought this in the sale about October time in 2012. I cannot remember how much I got it for, but I remember it was a bargain. I will be doing a blog post on my coats and jackets soon as I own enough to write about them haha :).

I hope this post has inspired you to purchase some pastel items and they're are some lovely pieces around! How are you styling your pastel colours this season?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. This was the very first time I had my pictures taken for something like this, so I apologise for the sort of awkwardness, hopefully I'll improve haha :). Thank you to my lovely sister for taking the pictures for me.

Until next time,
Sommer xx

Angelina Jolie at The BAFTAs 2014 - THE Tailored Suit

This week is definitely a big week in regards to fashion in the UK. Three star - studded events are being held this week. The events are: London Fashion Week, The BAFTAs and The Brits. Basically, it's all about the London look.
This post is concentrating on Angelina Jolie at The BAFTAs and tailored suits.
The androgynous look is becoming more and more popular with the female population. Style and comfort is becoming a must. Angelina Jolie proudly mixed chic and the androgynous look as one at The BAFTAs this week.

Didn't Brangelina look fabulous together at The BAFTAs?! I remember when Victoria and David Beckham tried to attempt to pull off matching outfits on the red carpet a few years ago  (which failed immensely!) but Brangelina succeed!
Angelina looks gorgeous and definitely rocks the androgynous image and Brad is just looking at her adoringly, aww. The tailored suit that Angelina is wearing is from Yves Saint Laurent. Now, I am probably speaking for the majority of people right now but Yves Saint Laurent isn't exactly affordable, especially if you're a poor graduate like me. But it's okay! There are affordable tailored suits out there!

ASOS Tailored Jacket and Trousers:

ASOS Relaxed Blazer  £35 - found here
ASOS Trousers in Crepe with Slim Lapel £45 - found here

I am a big fan of ASOS' suits. They are smart and can be relied on. The Relaxed Blazer is smart yet casual with its fit. I can imagine it is a comfortable blazer. Sometimes, I find blazers can be quite tight and I can never really feel I have a lot of space to move around in fitted blazers. Therefore, I tend to stick to boyfriend blazers. This blazer would be perfect for a formal occasion yet can be worn with a pair of jeans for example.
The ASOS trousers in Crepe actually are part of a matching set with a more fitted blazer. But after some consideration, I personally felt the relaxed blazer looked better with these trousers. But, the blazer which goes with the trousers is also listed on the link above if you prefer that blazer. :)

ZARA Royal Blue Blazer and Jacket:

ZARA Buttoned Blazer £49.99 - found here
ZARA Ankle - Cropped Trousers - £29.99 - found here

This is a gorgeous royal blue tailored suit from Zara. Tailored suits don't have to be just black. Wearing this suit, you would definitely stand out from the crowd and would be making a great statement. I am a big, BIG fan of ankle grazer type trousers as they really compliment your ankles and look great with flats and boots. Ankle - cropped trousers are making a big impact on the fashion scene this year. (I own many pairs). I am also VERY impressed with the price of the cropped trousers at £29.99!. Usually Zara can be over priced I feel, but this is a reasonable price! The trousers look great quality too. This suit would definitely brighten up a dull office!.

So, there we have it. My first blog post. How do you like to style tailored suits? Have you seen any reasonably priced tailored suits? Hope you enjoyed my first blog post (first of many!). :)

Lots of love,
Sommer xx
